COMPLETE SETS

Sets were a bundled 3 or 5 toys from that year packaged in a box and sold as a set. On this page are examples of some common Tiny Tonka Sets. Many variations exist on the Tiny Tonka Fire Department, and the Tiny Tonka Construction sets through the years. Complete sets were also produced for big box retailers such as Sears, JCPenny and a few others. These complete sets are extremely hard to find in mint or near mint condition especially with their original boxes. However, with the help of collectors you will find pictures of many of these rare sets on this page. This page does not reflect all the sets that Tonka produced and is just a sampling of what was available. No. 830 Fire Department Set

1981-82. Includes: Hook ‘n ladder, Ambulance, Pumper, Chief Van and Rescue Pickup. These were the only two years this set was available and reflected a new color scheme.

Canadian Woolworth Super Value Set

One of the rare sets sold through Woolworth. Not sure of the year of manufacture but this construction was also sold through JCPenny and a few other large retail stores. This one is a Canadian version.

No. 1016 TWA Airport Set

1978. Another example of a very hard to find set in the original box. Only available this year making it a must have for your collection.

No. 1400 Flyer Tigers Helicopter Set

1978. A unique set to find and manufactured only this year. The color combination on the forklift and tractor make this a great addition to any collection.

No. 1024 Farm Set

1981. Only available this year.

No. 822 Construction Set

1978. Includes: Bottom dump, lowboy & loader, dump truck and cement mixer. First year introduction of the yellow hubcaps and the blue lowboy and loader.

No. 1017 Horse Farm Set

1978. A pristine set in the original box. Set includes No. 515 Pick-up Truck, No. 904 Stake Truck, No. 928 Horse Van, 2 horses and 1 hay bale.

No. 825 Crazy A’s Set

Four souped up Model A’s such as scorcher No. 454, frantic flivver No. 458, stinger No. 456 and Mod Rod No 450.

No. 973 Community Set

1969. Includes Fire Pumper, Sanitary Truck, Wrecker and Police Van. Only year this set was available.

No. 1001 Bell Telephone Emergency Repair Set

1980-82. An extremely hard set to find with the original packaging. The bucket truck was sold as a single unit also.

No. 1000 Service Station Set

1979. A unique set featuring the gulf tanker combined with some plastic toys.

No. 7490 Penney’s 5-Piece Tonka Contruction Set

1970-72. A one of a kind and hard to find set in this condition from JC Penney’s.

No. 5140 Post Office Builders Playset

The Post Office Builders Playset is one of the rarest sets around. Due to the limited run it presents a serious collecting challenge. The set features 2 white scrambler vans, a Tiny Tonka No. 929 Highway Van, a decal sheet, a blue mailbox along with building. Only produced for this one year.
